Abraham Lincoln Council Introduces STEAM Series

The Abraham Lincoln Council, in partnership with the Illinois State Museum, is launching a new series of monthly STEAM workshops aimed at children ages 5 to 11. The six-part series will take place one Saturday per month from September 2025 through April 2026, excluding December and January.
Each workshop will focus on a different STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) topic, providing hands-on educational activities led by trained educators and volunteers. The sessions are designed to introduce participants to a range of scientific and technical subjects in an interactive setting.
Workshop Schedule and Topics:
September 6, 2025: Coding Unplugged – Introduction to programming concepts without the use of computers.
October 11, 2025: Robotics – Exploration of robot technologies and their applications.
November 8, 2025: Mad Scientists – Chemistry and physics experiments.
February 14, 2026: Forensics – Activities focused on crime scene investigation and scientific analysis.
March 14, 2026: Simple Machines – Lessons on levers, pulleys, and other basic mechanical devices.
April 11, 2026: Digging in the Past – Introduction to archaeology and excavation techniques.
Workshops will be held at the Illinois State Museum, located at 502 S. Spring Street in Springfield. In addition to the scheduled activities, participating families will have access to museum exhibits during their visit.
Cost and Registration:
Scouts: $25 per session or $130 for all six
Non-Scouts: $30 per session or $150 for all six
