Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME), an organization that provides education, training, and professional standards for coroners, medical examiners, and forensic specialists across the country.
Allmon expressed appreciation for the appointment, noting the value of the organization’s work. “What an honor to be selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners,” he said. “The IACME is a great organization that continues to educate coroners, medical examiners, and other forensic specialists.”
The IACME, founded more than a century ago, focuses on advancing death-investigation practices through accreditation, continuing education, and resources that support medicolegal professionals. The organization works to promote consistent standards nationwide while providing specialized training for those involved in death investigation and forensic science.
Along with Allmon, the IACME announced several additional new board members: Brett Harding, Chief Deputy Coroner of Ada County, Idaho; Katharine Pope, Disinterment Historian with the Department of Defense Missing Personnel Accounting Agency; and Dr. Paul Uribe, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner in Rosenberg, Texas. The organization also recognized returning board members Bobbi Jo O’Neal, Coroner of Charleston, South Carolina, and Melanie Rouse, Coroner and Department Director for Clark County, Nevada.
Allmon’s appointment places Sangamon County within a national network of coroners and medical examiners working to strengthen professional standards and support continuous improvement in forensic services.
