The Midwest Charity Horse Show will return to Springfield next week as the event celebrates its 85th annual show at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
The horse show is scheduled to take place June 9 through June 13 in the Coliseum of Champions and is expected to draw exhibitors, trainers and spectators from across the country for five days of competition and events. Daily performances are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. throughout the week.
The Midwest Charity Horse Show partners with the SIU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, with proceeds helping provide overnight lodging, food and transportation assistance for families whose children are receiving medical treatment. The Midwest Charity Horse Show Association endowment has contributed more than $257,000 to support pediatric programs since 1987.
The event has become one of the longest-running equestrian traditions held in Springfield and regularly features American Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies, Roadster Horses, Arabians, Morgans and other equine competitions recognized through the United States Equestrian Federation. Organizers describe the show as one of the country’s major USEF equine competitions.
In addition to in-person attendance, the event will also be available through livestream coverage provided by Richfield Video Productions for subscribers. Online exhibitor entry information and sponsorship opportunities are also available through the organization.
The Illinois State Fairgrounds continue to host a large number of horse shows and equine events each year, with horse competitions remaining a major part of the fairgrounds’ annual event schedule.
