Annual Wings and Wheels Fly-In and Car Show October 3

EAA Chapter 770 of Springfield will host its fourth annual Wings and Wheels Fly-In and Car Show on Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. The event will feature a variety of aircraft and automobiles while raising funds for the organization's Aviation Scholarship Program.

The annual fundraiser supports aspiring pilots through scholarships that help cover the cost of flight training. Over the past five years, EAA Chapter 770 has awarded seven aviation scholarships, with every recipient successfully completing the program and earning their private pilot certification.

This year's event will feature a display of show cars and aircraft on the airport tarmac, including a formation fly-in of Rutan-designed Long-EZ aircraft. Spectators will have the opportunity to view a variety of automobiles and aircraft throughout the afternoon.

A new addition to this year's event will give attendees the opportunity to purchase rides in two helicopters, a Huey and a Cobra. Tickets for both helicopter rides are available for advance purchase at a discounted rate.

Tickets for the Huey helicopter ride can be purchased at Huey Helicopter Ride , while tickets for the Cobra helicopter ride are available at Cobra Helicopter Ride .

Admission is free for spectators and individuals entering vehicles in the car show, although donations will be accepted to support the scholarship program.

Food and beverages will also be available for purchase during the event. Lunch packages will cost $15 and include a choice of a burger or pork riblet sandwich, sides and a beverage.

In addition to the aircraft and automobile displays, attendees will have access to two museums located at the airport. The Air Combat Museum will offer free admission during the event, providing visitors an opportunity to explore its collection of military aircraft and aviation exhibits.

The LRS Hangar Automotive Museum will also be open to the public, allowing visitors to view its collection of automobiles. A $10 donation is requested for admission to the automotive museum.

The Wings and Wheels Fly-In and Car Show is open to the public and offers families and aviation enthusiasts an opportunity to explore aircraft and automobiles while supporting aviation education in the Springfield area.

The event will take place at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport on Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the main event is free, and donations to the EAA Chapter 770 Aviation Scholarship Program are welcome.
