Ahead of the 119th Congress, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) has been elected Vice Chair for Policy of the New Democrat Coalition. The coalition, composed of over 100 pragmatic House Democrats, focuses on advancing innovative, inclusive, and forward-looking policies. Representing nearly half of the Democratic Caucus, the New Democrats aim to build an economy that works for all Americans.
Budzinski previously served as the Coalition’s Freshman Leadership Representative during the 118th Congress.

“Throughout my career, I’ve worked to bring people to the table to find common ground. That’s why the New Democrat Coalition – the ‘Can Do Caucus’ – quickly became a home for me, both because of my incredible colleagues but also because of our practical, often bipartisan, approach to tackling our country’s toughest challenges,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m honored that my fellow New Dems have elected me to serve as Vice Chair for Policy in the 119th Congress, where I will use my experience to continue to grow our coalition’s ability to produce results. From lowering costs for families to creating good-paying jobs and protecting reproductive freedom, I look forward to working closely with Chair Schneider and other Vice Chairs to defend our freedoms and deliver for the communities we serve.”
The New Democrat Coalition, often referred to as the "Can Do Caucus," prioritizes bridging the partisan divide and finding practical solutions to the nation’s challenges. Its primary goals include ensuring access to quality health care, increasing affordable housing, lowering costs for families, and creating jobs. The coalition prides itself on its results-driven approach to governance.
