On December 17 at approximately 11:03 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cook and Pasfield Streets. The officers contacted the driver, who was identified as Marshall Holmes, 22, of Chatham, Illinois. As Holmes exited the vehicle, officers observed one round of ammunition on the driver’s seat.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded SCCY CXP-3 9mm firearm, methamphetamine, heroin, psilocybin mushrooms, and prescription medications. Upon completing the traffic stop, Holmes was arrested and transported to the Sangamon County Jail pending formal charges from the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Holmes faces charges of armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of firearm ammunition, and possession of a firearm.
