State Rep. Mike Coffey will host a free community shred event Saturday in Springfield, giving area residents an opportunity to securely dispose of documents containing personal information.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Knights of Columbus, also known as Casey’s Pub, 2200 Meadowbrook Road in Springfield.

Coffey said the event is intended to provide residents with a safe, secure and convenient way to dispose of personal documents.

“Shredding documents containing personal information helps protect against identity theft,” said Coffey. “I encourage everyone to attend this free event and take advantage of the on-site shred truck.”

Paper documents will be shredded on-site during the event.

Residents with questions about the event can contact Coffey’s office for additional information.
