Coffey Takes Oath of Office

State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) was officially inaugurated into the 103rd General Assembly today. Coffey joined 117 other members of the 103rd Illinois House of Representatives who were sworn in at noon at the University of Illinois in Springfield before family, friends, and supporters. Rep. Coffey was among over a dozen other freshmen sworn in for the first time.

“I’ve been in the service industry for years, and I’m excited and honored by this opportunity to be of service to the community in a completely different way,” Rep. Coffey said. Coffey currently manages Springfield staple, Saputo’s, and owns another Springfield Italian eatery, Papa Frank’s. In addition, Coffey serves as the Chairman of the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) board, which governs the Bank of Springfield Center, a popular local concert venue. “I don’t take representing the people of the capital of this great state lightly. I understand what that means and who the great people are that live here. I’m eager to go to work for them.”

Coffey takes over the 95th District from former State Representative Tim Butler, but Coffey is taking over a district that looks vastly different. The 95th district was redrawn after the 2020 census and now represents portions of the state capital, Springfield, as well as communities to the south and east, like Woodside, Chatham, Rochester, Edinburg, and Stonington.

Rep. Coffey encourages constituents to reach out to him for help with state and local issues or give input on legislation. “My office is open to everyone and I ask that constituents contact me if there is ever anything I can do to help in my capacity as their representative, or to bring an issue to my attention.”
