As part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Drug Take-Back event in the Sangamon County Health Department parking lot this Saturday.
The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day encourages the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
Community members are invited to drop off expired or unused medications to be properly disposed of. Accepted items include prescription medications, including tablets, capsules, and other solid forms of prescription drugs, patches, and vaping devices and cartridges with their lithium batteries removed. Restricted items include liquids, syringes, needles, and illegal drugs.
The event takes place this Saturday, April 30, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm In the County Health Department Parking Lot, 2833 S Grand Avenue Springfield.
