Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

Crime Stoppers is asking the public for help with any information regarding two felony criminal damage cases that occurred earlier this month. The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office is investigating both incidents, which involved the destruction of a large amount of fiber optic wire, resulting in approximately $55,000 worth of damage.

The first incident occurred on March 10, 2023, in the 3700 block of Camp Butler Road. The second incident occurred between March 14 and 15 at the CWLP substation, located at 3600 Ridgley Road. Photos of the damage can be found on the Crime Stoppers website, cashfortips.us.

If anyone has any information about the incidents or the identity of the suspects, they are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427 or submit a tip on the website. Tips can also be submitted through the P3 mobile app. If the tip leads to an arrest, the tipster could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Crime Stoppers reminds the public that they only want information, not personal details such as names or identifying information.
