Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

Oak Ridge and Calvary Cemeteries in Springfield are facing a troubling trend of repeated illegal burns, raising concerns among local authorities. Over the past year, the Springfield Fire Department has responded to 11 fire incidents in the area, prompting a call for public assistance in stopping these dangerous acts.

While no major damage has occurred, officials are treating the situation seriously. Arson is a felony offense, and open burning is also illegal within the city limits. To aid in the investigation, Crime Stoppers is seeking anonymous tips from the community. A cash reward of up to $2500 is offered for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information related to these incidents is strongly urged to come forward and report it to the Springfield Police or Crime Stoppers immediately, by phone at 217-788-8427 or submitting tips online at cashfortips.us
