Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in preventing construction site burglaries as warmer weather brings an increase in construction activity.
Contractors, home builders and remodeling companies are working on projects across the area, but Crime Stoppers said job sites can also become targets for thieves looking to steal expensive tools, construction materials and supplies.
According to Crime Stoppers, these thefts can delay projects, affect local workers and create safety concerns.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity around a construction site, including after-hours visitors, unmarked vehicles or unfamiliar individuals in the area, is encouraged to call their local police department immediately.
Anyone with information about recent construction site thefts or any other crime can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip online at cashfortips.us or use the P3 app.
Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
Remember, Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
