Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the death of a 60-year-old woman from Petersburg following a vehicle collision.
The individual was transported by EMS from the scene of the motor vehicle collision on Illinois State Route 97 last night and pronounced deceased in the emergency room at Springfield Memorial Hospital at 10:52pm.
Coroner Allmon identified the 60 year-old female as Marjorie Hinds, of Petersburg. An autopsy was done Monday and preliminary findings show that she died of multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
According to Illinois State Police, Lori Moreno, 40, of Springfield, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Transportation or Possession of Open Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
