The Sangamon County Board approved additional improvements to the Animal Control and Adoption Center. Adding to the list of changes made to the facility in the past year, the board approved a camera upgrade and the purchase of new feline kennels.
"We continue to follow the advice from our community veterinarians. The cameras and new kennels approved tonight will help ensure that the animal control facility provides the best service for the animals we care for and our residents", said Sangamon County Board Member Linda Fulgenzi.
While the facility has consistently received the highest possible marks for Animal care and welfare from the State's oversight agencies. In May, the County announced several policy and procedural changes to the facility. As a result, the number of adoptions has increased at the facility, and Euthanasia declined drastically by nearly 60%.
