RISE Springfield, a leadership council of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, will host its annual Give & Take Professional Clothing Drive on Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, at the Salvation Army Community Center. The event aims to connect community members with quality professional attire while promoting sustainability and mutual support.

On Friday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., community members can drop off gently used men’s and women’s professional clothing. Items should be in good condition, free of holes, stains, or excessive wear. Suitable donations include business suits, dress shirts, blouses, slacks, skirts, dresses, ties, belts, and professional shoes. The drive is open to all who wish to contribute, from individuals cleaning out their closets to businesses looking to donate excess apparel.

The following day, Saturday, August 23, the event will shift to a pickup format from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Individuals in need of professional clothing—whether for a job interview, a career change, or everyday workplace wear—can browse the available selection and take what they need. Bags will be provided while supplies last, ensuring that attendees can conveniently transport their items. Any remaining clothing at the end of the event will be donated to local nonprofit organizations to extend the benefit to others in the community.

Organizers emphasize that the event is not limited to any particular group—both the donation and pickup days are open to the public, with no cost to participate. RISE Springfield also encourages young professionals and community members to volunteer at the event, helping sort donations, assist attendees, and ensure smooth operations.

“This event is about more than clothing—it’s about giving people the confidence to succeed in professional environments and making sure resources in our community are shared where they are needed most,” said a RISE Springfield representative.
