Habitat Provides Wheelchair Ramp Assistance

Applications are currently open for Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County's Wheelchair Ramp Program, which aims to improve home accessibility for those in need.


Eligible applicants must be low-income, own and reside in their home, have homeowner’s insurance, and require a wheelchair ramp. Once accepted into the program, volunteers will install a durable and dependable wheelchair ramp at the applicant’s residence.


To apply and review the income guidelines, visit the Habitat website or pick up an application at the Habitat office located at 2744 South Sixth St. in Springfield. Habitat officals says, this program not only provides essential accessibility improvements but also raises awareness about the importance of housing accessibility.

The King’s Daughters Organization sponsors the Wheelchair Ramp Program for individuals aged 55 and older.
