The City of Springfield Public Works Department will host a voucher-only Household Hazardous Waste Collection event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Chamberlain Park, 319 McCreery Ave.

The event is being held in partnership with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and is open to all Illinois residents. Participants must obtain a voucher from the City of Springfield Office of Public Works before attending.

Vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents must have their voucher available either in print or on a mobile device when arriving at the collection site.

The collection is limited to residential households. Businesses and organizations are not eligible to participate.

Residents can request a voucher through the City of Springfield Office of Public Works website. Officials are encouraging residents to reserve a spot as soon as possible because the number of vouchers is limited.

Participants should arrive only during their predetermined collection time. Vehicles should enter the collection site from Adams Street and follow posted signs and directions from traffic wardens to the parking lot. Vehicles will exit onto McCreery Avenue.

Residents without a valid voucher will not be permitted to drop off materials at the event.
