Two juvenile students were arrested following a cafeteria fight at Lanphier High School. At approximately 12:54 p.m. on November 20, 2024, the Springfield Police Department's School Resource Officer assigned to Lanphier High School responded to an active fight in the school’s cafeteria.
Upon arriving, the officer observed two male juvenile students engaged in a physical altercation. Despite the officer issuing multiple commands for the students to stop, they continued fighting. To safely de-escalate the situation, the officer deployed a Taser, which immediately halted the confrontation.
The students, both of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital for medical treatment and have since been released.
Both juveniles were arrested on charges of aggravated battery. However, neither met the criteria for incarceration and were subsequently released to the care of a parent or guardian.
The incident remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
