Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) will host its annual Haunted Lab event on Friday, October 23, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in upper Sangamon Hall on the LLCC-Springfield campus, located at 5250 Shepherd Road.

The free event is open to children of all ages who are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families will have the opportunity to watch science demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities and learn about experiments they can recreate at home.

Science shows will begin every 30 minutes throughout the evening, featuring demonstrations led by members of the LLCC Chemistry and Biology Clubs under the guidance of college faculty.

The demonstrations will introduce children to scientific concepts through a variety of experiments, including elephant toothpaste fountains, slime that changes shape and the extraction of DNA from everyday fruit. The activities are intended to encourage an interest in science while providing an opportunity for children to observe chemical and biological reactions.

Between shows, attendees can visit interactive stations featuring hands-on activities related to natural and agricultural sciences. These stations will allow children to explore additional scientific subjects and participate in experiments with guidance from LLCC students and faculty.

Children and families are welcome to attend in Halloween costumes, and popcorn will be available during the event.

Haunted Lab is sponsored by LLCC's natural and agricultural sciences department and the college's Chemistry and Biology Clubs.
