Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) is marking Women’s History Month in March with a thoughtful lineup of events designed to celebrate the achievements, leadership and influence of women both locally and nationally. The college’s observance aligns with this year’s national Women’s History Month theme, “Leading the Change,” which honors women who have significantly shaped history as well as those continuing to drive progress within their communities.
All of the college’s Women’s History Month activities are free and open to the public, offering opportunities for community members to engage, learn and reflect. Events will be held in the A. Lincoln Commons on LLCC’s main campus, located at 5250 Shepherd Road in Springfield, and are presented through the efforts of LLCC’s Student Engagement and Wellbeing office.
The month’s programming begins on Thursday, March 5, with the HerStory Market, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event celebrates International Women’s Day by spotlighting women-owned businesses from Springfield and surrounding areas. Attendees will have the chance to explore offerings from local women entrepreneurs, enjoy entertainment, and learn how women are making meaningful contributions through business, creativity and service.
On Monday, March 16, the college will host a screening of “Wicked: For Good” at 4 p.m., accompanied by popcorn and refreshments. This contemporary retelling of the classic narrative highlights themes of resilience, friendship and the ways women forge their own paths — reinforcing the empowering spirit of Women’s History Month.
The month’s activities will culminate on Thursday, March 26, with a lunch-and-learn discussion titled “Leading the Change: Women Shaping Our Future,” set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In this session, influential women leaders from the Springfield community will share their personal stories and insights on leadership, advocacy and the vital role women’s voices play in shaping the future. Guests will hear firsthand how these leaders navigated challenges, inspired others and contributed to meaningful change.
