LLCC Offering Career Camps This Summer

Lincoln Land Community College is offering free summer camps to give students a hands-on look at several career fields.
The camps are part of LLCC’s Career Quest offerings and are open to students ranging from middle school age to recent high school graduates. LLCC’s summer camp programs are offered for students from first grade through recent high school graduates, with camps available in Springfield, Beardstown, Jacksonville, Litchfield and Taylorville.
The Build & Wire Skills Camp will introduce high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates to construction and electrical careers. The camp will be held June 1-18, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at LLCC-Taylorville. Students will use professional tools, learn basic wiring and complete woodworking projects, including building their own furniture piece. The camp is limited to 12 students.
The Hospitality Leadership Launch camp will be held June 1-4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LLCC Workforce Careers Center and local hospitality sites. The camp is open to high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates and is limited to 22 students. Participants will learn about hospitality, events, tourism, sports, guest services and entertainment while getting a behind-the-scenes look at how experiences are planned and delivered.
LLCC is also offering AgExplorers-Springfield for students entering or finishing grades 6-9. The camp will be held June 1-4 from 9 a.m. to noon on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road. The program is designed for students interested in plant and animal science, farm mechanics, agricultural technology and other areas of agriculture.
