LLCC Welcomes New Therapy Dog

Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) officially welcomed its newest member of the campus police department as Everest, the college’s outreach and therapy dog, was sworn into service during a special ceremony.

LLCC Police Chief Chris Russell administered the oath of office, asking Everest to provide comfort to students and staff, help reduce stress and anxiety and serve as an ambassador for the police department. Everest made his commitment official with a pawprint signature before receiving a warm welcome from students and employees.

LLCC President Dr. Curt Oldfield led the ceremony and emphasized the importance of creating a supportive campus environment.

“Everest has already been spreading joy among our students, faculty and staff, bringing comfort to people during both everyday moments and challenging times,” said Oldfield. “We’re excited to officially welcome him to the LLCC family and look forward to the positive impact he’ll have on our college community.”

Everest takes over for Pawfficer Ember, who retired in August after three years of service to the college. Russell expressed confidence that Everest will be just as popular with students and staff as his predecessor.

Everest is sponsored by West Lake Animal Hospital and Pup E. Tails Pet Grooming.
