Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the death of a 41-year-old man from Mahomet.
The individual was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room from the scene of a motor vehicle collision near Sangamon Avenue and North Dirksen Parkway in Springfield on Saturday.
The decedent was pronounced deceased at 9:17pm by hospital staff shortly after his arrival. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon identified the deceased man who died after being transported from the scene of a motor vehicle collision near North Dirksen Parkway and Sangamon Avenue in Springfield Friday night. Chad Dial, 41, of Mahomet, Illinois died at 9:17pm shortly after arriving at HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room. An autopsy done today suggests Mr. Dial died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.
The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
