Meet Coco: This Week’s Adoptable Pet

A new weekly feature will highlight some of the dogs and cats waiting for homes through the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Each week, readers will get a chance to meet one of the animals currently available for adoption and learn a little more about them.

This week, meet Coco.

Coco is an approximately 3-year-old Pointer mix looking for a fresh start and a new family to call her own. The medium-sized, brown-and-white dog was surrendered through no fault of her own and is now available for adoption.

Coco is already spayed and vaccinated and is listed as having no special needs. Those interested in adopting her can contact Sangamon County Animal Control to learn more about her personality, ask questions and determine whether she might be a good fit for their home.

Coco is one of several dogs and cats currently waiting for homes at the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

Animals adopted through the center are vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped before adoption. Dog adoptions also typically include a rabies vaccination, registration, routine vaccinations and worming. Dogs older than six months are tested for heartworm.

Eligible animals are adopted on a first-come, first-served basis after they have been cleared by the center’s veterinarian for adoption.

Anyone interested in meeting or adopting Coco can visit the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center at 2100 Shale Street in Springfield. The center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Adoption services end 15 minutes before the facility closes.
