Escapetown Springfield opened July 18, bringing a new immersive, interactive entertainment experience to the Capital City.

The escape room attraction challenges groups to solve a series of clues, locks, puzzles and technological surprises within 60 minutes. Teams must work together to advance through the room and complete the challenge before time expires.

“We’re excited to bring our signature, fully private escape rooms to Sangamon County,” said Mike Whittle, co-owner and CEO of Escapetown Springfield. “The Capital City is famous for its rich history and incredible landmarks, but Escapetown offers something completely different — a hands-on, pulse-pounding experience where you and your group step out of the audience and become the center of the story.”

Escapetown Springfield opened with three rooms: Escape from Bigfoot’s Cave, Island Survival: The Last Signal and High Noon: Saloon Showdown. A fourth room, Escape from Widow’s Grove Asylum, is expected to open this fall.

Groups can make reservations through the Escapetown website or by calling 309-368-3489. The attraction is located at 1939 E. Sangamon Ave. in Springfield.

Another escape room option in Sangamon County is Amazing Xscapes, located at 1650 Wabash Ave. in Springfield. The family-owned business offers several themed escape rooms and interactive experiences, including Haunted A. Lincoln Motel, Escape the Cabin, 80’s Strangest Times, Curse of the Mummy and Escape the AI.
