Residents of New Berlin and surrounding areas will have a convenient opportunity to apply for a passport this weekend, thanks to a partnership between Warren-Boynton State Bank and the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

On Saturday, May 17, passport agents from Circuit Clerk Joe Roesch’s office will be on-site at Warren-Boynton State Bank, located at 702 W. Illinois St., to process passport applications from 9 a.m. to noon. Standard passport fees will apply, and current processing times can be found at travel.state.gov.

“Warren-Boynton State Bank appreciates the circuit clerk’s office’s effort to make registering for a passport more convenient for the local community and the bank’s customers,” said James A. Weast, president and CEO of Warren-Boynton State Bank. “The bank is pleased to assist in this outreach effort.”

Circuit Clerk Joe Roesch also emphasized the importance of these community services. “We are pleased to partner with local government, banks and merchants to provide community outreach events,” Roesch said. “Through these events, we hope to make the process of applying for a passport more convenient for everyone.”

For those unable to attend Saturday’s event, passport applications can still be submitted in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office, located at the county complex in Springfield. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is closed on weekends and court holidays.

Applicants attending Saturday’s event should bring the following:

  • A certified copy of their birth certificate (no photocopies or hospital-issued versions)

  • A valid photo ID

  • An approved passport photo (photos can be taken on-site)

  • Certified copies of any court orders for name changes, custody, or adoption

  • Two personal checks, cashier’s checks, or money orders to cover fees
