Springfield's Hope Pavilion at Southwind Park will be buzzing on Sept. 23, from 8 to 10:30 a.m., as the Prairie Heart Foundation hosts "Powered by Prairie," a heart walk and health fair.
This event aims to promote heart health and raise funds for local Prairie cardiac rehab services in several communities, including Breese, Decatur, Effingham, Greenville, Highland, Litchfield, O’Fallon, Shelbyville, and Springfield. The donations received will be utilized to enhance cardiac rehab facilities by procuring new equipment, organizing specialized programs, providing incentives to participants, conducting colleague training, and facilitating facility improvements.
Participants have the opportunity to register online at prairieheart.org/powered-by-prairie-heart-walk until Sept. 15, 2023. There are different registration options available, with fees ranging from $20 per person for Prairie Cardiac Rehab participants to $80 for a family of four. Each participant will receive a Prairie t-shirt and can choose between a ball cap or cooling towel as well.
The heart walk and health fair are open to all ages and will feature an array of heart-healthy activities. Rain or shine, attendees can enjoy the event and have a chance to win exciting prizes through various drawings held throughout the morning. However, for the comfort and safety of all, pets are not allowed at the venue.
