Rep. Hamilton Visits Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum

State Representative Sandy Hamilton (R-Springfield), visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) on Thursday to help kick off the celebration of the President Lincoln Holiday weekend. The tour was provided by Executive Director Christina Shutt, Chief Acquisitions Officer Ian Hunt, Library Service Director Lisa Horsley, and Kayla Sorensen, Director of Legislative and Governmental Affairs.

“I am a big fan of former President Abraham Lincoln for several reasons including that he called Springfield, Illinois home when he was elected President of the United States in 1860,” said Rep. Sandy Hamilton. “We are fortunate to have such a world class museum and library that attracts visitors from around the world to learn about Mr. Lincoln and his impact on America including his championing land grant colleges and expanding freedom to former slaves. The cultural and economic impact on our area is significant and I look forward to working with them to expand history tourism to help create even more jobs for our city.”

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum uses a combination of historical scholarship and high-tech showmanship to educate visitors about Lincoln’s life and times. The library itself holds an unparalleled collection of Lincoln books, documents, photographs, artifacts and art, as well as some 12 million items pertaining to all aspects of Illinois history. Rep. Hamilton encourages residents and visitors alike to visit this local attraction.
