On November 7, Springfield Police officers arrested two subjects for burglary after locating them inside the Lanphier High School construction site. Officers were patrolling the area due to previous burglaries and thefts reported to the site. Officers located Terrence Harris, 52, of Springfield, and Manuel Rios, 56, of Springfield, on the third floor of the new gym.
Harris was arrested for burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and obstructing justice. Rios was arrested for burglary. They were both transported to the Sangamon County Jail. Both Harris and Rios were released from custody on November 8.
On November 12, Springfield Police officers were again patrolling the construction site at Lanphier High School when they located two subjects inside the site searching through tools. The subjects were identified as Terrence Harris, 52, of Springfield and Lee A. Clark, 58, of Springfield. Both Harris and Clark were arrested for burglary, theft, and criminal trespass to property. They were both transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
Harris, who was arrested for the same offense within five days, has also been arrested 12 times since May 2023 for various offenses, including retail theft, burglary, and possession of controlled substances.
