Sangamon County Deputies Detain Two After Disturbance

On Thursday, September 12th, at approximately 4:42 p.m., the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disturbance in the 700 block of North Wesley.


The 911 caller reported that a male was assaulting a female with a bat. Upon arrival, deputies detained a 47-year-old male at the scene. The 27-year-old female involved fled westbound through backyards toward Forrest Avenue.


While detaining the male, deputies heard what they believed to be gunshots from the west.


After a search, the female was located and detained at a residence in the 700 block of Forrest Avenue. There were no reports of life-threatening or serious injuries. The incident remains under investigation, and deputies remained on the scene until late Thursday evening.
