Sheriff Crouch Announces Scholarship Opportunity for Local Students

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) announced it will award more than $58,000 in college scholarships to students across Illinois for the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarships are intended to assist with tuition, books, and fees for full-time students attending a certified institution of higher learning within the state, including online programs based in Illinois.

In Sangamon County, Sheriff Paula Crouch will award two scholarships, each valued at $500.

The scholarships are open to all qualified applicants regardless of race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin. To be eligible, students must be permanent residents of Illinois and enrolled full-time at an Illinois-based college or university during the 2025-2026 school year, excluding summer sessions.

Applications are available at local sheriff’s offices or on the ISA website at https://www.ilsheriff.org/youth-2/. Students must complete the application, respond to an essay question, and submit all required materials to the sheriff’s office in their county of residence by March 14, 2025 (postmarked by this date). A directory of sheriff’s offices can be found at https://www.ilsheriff.org/sheriffs-directory/.

For additional information, students are encouraged to contact their local sheriff’s office, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, their high school advising center, or their college financial aid office.
