Small Business Awards Recognize Entrepreneurs

The Annual Small Business Awards Luncheon, organized by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, took place last month, at the Crowne Plaza Springfield Convention Center. This highly anticipated event, presented by Hickory Point Bank, aimed to honor and celebrate exceptional entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions to their community. Four individuals were recognized in different categories for their remarkable achievements.


Molly Berendt of Compass for Kids, Inc. was named the recipient of the Not-For-Profit – Business Director of the Year award. This category acknowledges executives of not-for-profit organizations who have demonstrated innovative organizational skills and management expertise, resulting in the expansion and improvement of their organization's impact on the community.


Brandy Fletcher, the owner of B's Creative Studio, was honored with the New & Emerging – Business Owner of the Year award. This recognition is bestowed upon business owners who have exhibited outstanding performance, including innovation, growth, and valuable contributions to the community. Eligible candidates must have established their businesses for more than one but less than four years.


Wade Kammin, the owner of Wild Birds Unlimited, received the Small Business – Owner of the Year award. This accolade acknowledges business owners who have demonstrated exceptional performance through their innovation, growth, and significant contributions to the community. To qualify, these businesses must have been established for four or more years and employ less than 100 individuals.


The prestigious Lifetime Award – Business Owner of the Year was presented to Leonard Naumovich of Primo Designs, Inc. This category recognizes business owners whose for-profit companies have thrived in Sangamon County for a minimum of 25 years. Leonard Naumovich's enduring success and substantial contributions to commerce and the community earned him this esteemed recognition.
