On Friday, 22-year-old Dylan T. Rensner was arrested in connection with the Regions Bank robbery that took place on April 12, 2023. Rensner was taken into custody without incident in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was found with the help of Flock license plate readers and the Illinois State Police Statewide Terrorism Intelligence Center (STIC).
Following the robbery, Springfield Police Detectives received tips from members of the community, which led to the identification of Rensner as a possible suspect. The detectives then utilized Flock license plate readers to track Rensner's movements, leading them to Terre Haute.
A multi-agency effort involving the Vigo County Sheriff's Office, Terre Haute Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the FBI resulted in Rensner's arrest. The success of the investigation was attributed to community assistance, the use of Flock LPR technology, and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies.
The Regions Bank robbery occurred at approximately 9:07 a.m. on April 12th. A masked male suspect entered the bank with a handgun and demanded money before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.
Rensner is currently being held in custody at the Macon County Jail. The FBI will continue the ongoing investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
