Springfield Burglar Wanted After Removing Ankle Monitor

On March 18, 2024, Springfield Police officers arrested Avion Hunter in connection to a burglary at a Subway restaurant located in the 600 block of Linton. At the time of the arrest, Hunter was in possession of US currency and burglary tools. He was interviewed by SPD detectives and confessed to multiple burglaries. Hunter, who was on parole for burglary at the time, was charged with three felonies and subsequently released from jail per the Pre-Trial Fairness Act.


On March 29, 2024 officers responded to a burglary at Hardees, 1800 block of Sangamon in which Hunter was once again the suspect. On April 12, 2024, Hunter was arrested and charged with this burglary. He was outfitted with an ankle electronic monitoring device and released from custody.





On April 16, 2024, Hunter illegally removed the monitor and his whereabouts are currently unknown. A warrant has been issued for Hunter’s arrest.


Hunter’s criminal history includes prior arrests for: burglary, criminal damage, theft, aggravated battery, resisting a police officer, and unlawful use of a weapon.
