Springfield Clinic recently welcomed Dr. Rachael Ashcraft to its General Surgery Department as a breast surgeon with a focus on breast cancer treatment.
Dr. Ashcraft is a highly trained and experienced surgeon who earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. She also completed a fellowship in interdisciplinary breast surgery at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City.
Dr. Ashcraft believes in partnering with her patients in their healthcare journey to help them become the best version of themselves. She understands that each patient's situation is unique, and her job is to provide them with the tools and resources to help them participate in and direct their care in line with their values.
"My goal is to provide individualized and special care for each person. Regardless of why you are in my clinic, we are going to find an answer, a solution, and make a plan that honors who you are as a person and what you want to achieve going forward," says Dr. Ashcraft.
Dr. Ashcraft's scope of practice includes comprehensive breast care from surgery to reviewing family history and genetics to developing a care plan that meets the patient's needs and values. She believes that the care she provides should be tailored to each patient and their unique circumstances.
"At the heart of my approach is personalized care. I take time to understand each patient's story, their values, and what they want to achieve with their care," says Dr. Ashcraft. "I believe that by working together, we can create a care plan that is in line with their goals and provides the best possible outcomes."
