Springfield Fire Department Receives FEMA Grant

The Springfield Fire Department has secured a substantial grant of $460,290 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to elevate its firefighting capabilities.

This funding will enable the acquisition of 42 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) compliant air packs, each equipped with 84 air bottles designed to endure 45 minutes of intense firefighting. The grant will also replace the existing self-contained breathing apparatus fill station with an upgraded version.

Chief Edward Canny expressed gratitude for FEMA's support, stating, "This grant equips our firefighters with essential tools to respond effectively and safely to emergencies, significantly enhancing our ability to protect lives and property."
