Springfield Man Arrested for Firearms and Narcotics

On February 6th, the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit, Pro-Active Crime Unit, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, conducted two search warrants. The warrants were served as the result of an investigation involving Eddie E. Cousins, 23, of Springfield. The first warrant was served in the 1000 block of N. 1st Street, followed by a second warrant in the 3000 block of Great Northern Drive.


Upon completion of the warrants, officers had located 80 grams of cannabis, 4 grams of ecstasy, packaging materials, Stevens model 320 12 gauge shotgun, Anderson Manufacture AM-15 .223 caliber pistol, Rock River Arms LAR-15 5.56 caliber pistol, Romarm Draco semi-auto pistol, Glock 22 .40 caliber pistol equipped with a full auto switch, and a Glock 35, .40 caliber pistol which had also been equipped with a full auto switch.





Cousins was arrested and transported to the Sangamon County Jail pending formal charges by the Sangamon County State's Attorney’s Office.


Cousins was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon-machine gun, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, methamphetamine possession, and delivery of cannabis.
