Springfield Man Arrested for Shooting

The Springfield Police responded to the 1300 block of N. 9th Street for a report of a male subject pointing a firearm at a female. After knocking for several minutes, a female emerged from the apartment unharmed.

A male on scene identified as Ronson L. Bell, 22, of Springfield, was arrested on a Sangamon County warrant for aggravated battery with a firearm. The warrant had been issued for the shooting that occurred on September 21 at N. 7th and Bergen Streets.


Additionally, as a result of this arrest, Springfield Police recovered and seized a Polymer 80 9mm firearm, Glock 43 firearm, ammunition for a revolver, approximately 64 grams of ecstasy pills, 24 oxycodone pills, several Xanax pills, approximately 3 grams of cocaine and 2 grams of crack cocaine.




Bell was also charged with armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, methamphetamine delivery, and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
