On May 24, 2023, Jonathan G. McCune, 36 years old, of the 4000 block of Bissell Road, Springfield, Illinois, was indicted by a Sangamon County Grand Jury on six charges of Child Pornography and two charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. An arrest warrant was issued for McCune, and his bond was set at $300,000. McCune turned himself in to the Sangamon County Jail, where he remains incarcerated pending trial.
In January 2023, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Child Abuse Hotline received a report of sexual assault involving a female minor child. The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center and DCFS, launched an investigation that uncovered numerous criminal acts that occurred over several years.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the detectives assigned to this case, the Child Advocacy Center, DCFS, and the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office for their hard work in bringing this case to a conclusion.
