On June 2, officers with the Springfield Police Department Pro-Active Crime Unit, along with assisting agencies, served two narcotic-related search warrants within Springfield. The warrants were the result of an investigation into Mario D. Oliea, a 41-year-old male, currently on federal probation for drug-related offenses.
Oliea was observed leaving a residence in the 100 block of South Douglas Avenue, where he was arrested after attempting to flee. As the officers were searching the vehicle, they found 91.93 grams of cocaine in the area where Oliea had been seated.
During a search of the residence, officers located 3,724.56 grams of cocaine, 328 grams of cannabis, digital scales, and cocaine packaging. The cocaine seizure has an approximate street value of $129,000.
When conducting a secondary search warrant in the 4000 block of Pickfair Rd., officers located an undetermined amount of U.S. Currency. Oliea is currently being held in the Sangamon County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
Oliea was arrested for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, delivery of cannabis under 500 grams, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
