Next month, Springfield will host a unique national event that hasn’t returned to Illinois in more than 80 years. From August 7–9, the National Button Society (NBS) will bring its 2025 Annual Convention to the Crowne Plaza Springfield Convention Center.
Founded in Illinois in 1938, the NBS held its first show at the 1939 Chicago Hobby Club Show. Since then, it has grown from 87 charter members to more than 2,200 members across 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and four continents.
Themed “A Harvest of Buttons,” the convention is presented by the NBS and the Illinois State Button Society. It will welcome collectors, dealers, and enthusiasts from around the United States, Canada, and Europe to celebrate the artistry, history, and diversity of antique and vintage buttons.
The public is invited to explore the showroom, where more than 30 dealers will offer thousands of collectible buttons for sale in a wide range of styles and prices. Informational presentations on button-related topics will be held daily, and attendees will have opportunities to learn more about the world of button collecting.
The event will take place at:
Crowne Plaza Springfield Convention Center
3000 South Dirksen Parkway
