Springfield Woman Indicted for Aggravated DUI Causing Death

Marina Rhone, also known as Marina Bustamante, has been indicted by a grand jury on three counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence causing death (Class 2), according to an announcement made by Sangamon County State's Attorney Dan Wright.

The charges stem from a tragic incident that occurred on May 1, 2023, at the intersection of Cook and South 2nd Streets in Springfield. The collision resulted in the death of Kevin L. Crews, a resident of Springfield. The Springfield Police Department conducted a thorough investigation into the matter, leading to Rhone's indictment.

Rhone is currently being held in custody at the Sangamon County Jail. A bond has been set at $200,000. If convicted, Rhone could face a maximum penalty of up to 14 years in the Department of Corrections.

Criminal charges are only allegations, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
