Registration remains open for Kids Good Grief Camp, an annual event hosted by the Staab Family to help children cope with loss.
The camp will be held April 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park, 4965 S. Second St.
Organizers say the camp is designed to help children navigate the loss of a loved one, recognizing that grief can bring a range of emotions including sadness, shock, disbelief, anger and guilt. The Staab Family founded the event more than a decade ago to support young people experiencing grief.
Led by licensed therapists, the camp combines support with interactive activities. Children will take part in projects such as planting a tree, creating art and participating in exercises aimed at helping them develop healthy ways to grieve. A registered healing and comfort dog from PawPrint Ministries will also be present.
The event also provides an opportunity for children to share experiences with others their age, helping validate feelings and reduce isolation.
The camp is open to children ages 6 to 12. The cost is $10, with scholarships available. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
