National Apple Pie Day, celebrated on May 13th, pays tribute to a dessert often described as "as American as apple pie." This timeless treat has been a staple of family gatherings, holidays, and nostalgic recipes passed down through generations. Whether warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh out of the oven, apple pie embodies comfort and tradition.

Easy Apple Pie RecipeIngredients:

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best), peeled, cored, and sliced

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 package of premade pie crusts

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9-inch pie pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine apple slices with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

  3. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into the pie pan. Pour the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.

  4. Cover with the second pie crust, seal the edges, and cut a few small slits in the top to release steam.

  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Enjoy your slice of Americana, whether it’s shared with loved ones or savored solo.
