Cities and villages across Sangamon and surrounding counties have announced the official trick-or-treating hours for Halloween 2023.
Springfield: Trick-or-treating will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Athens: Trick-or-Treat hours will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Auburn: Trick-or-Treat hours will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, and Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Chatham: Trick-or-treating will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Decatur: Trick-or-treating will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Divernon: Trick-or-Treat hours will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30 on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Sherman: Trick-or-Treat hours will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
To signify participation in the Halloween festivities, homeowners are asked to please turn on their porch lights during the designated trick-or-treating hours. Homes without their porch lights illuminated should not be visited.
Safety Tips:
Always look both ways before crossing a street, an intersection, or a driveway.
Walk on well-lit sidewalks.
Reflective clothing or costumes are strongly recommended, as they help make trick-or-treaters more visible at nighttime.
Candy should be thoroughly checked before allowing children to consume it.
Accompany young children at all times while trick-or-treating.
