State Senator Doris Turner has announced that more than $68 million in funding will support infrastructure projects across Central Illinois through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s new multi-year plan. The investment is part of what is expected to be the largest multi-year infrastructure initiative in state history, with the Rebuild Illinois capital program dedicating $50.6 billion over six years to upgrade roads, bridges, transit, rail, aviation, waterways, and pedestrian infrastructure statewide.
Turner emphasized that this funding will directly benefit residents in her district by improving transportation safety, connectivity, and local economic growth. “With this significant funding coming right to the roads we drive daily, we are investing in the future of our communities,” she said.
Under IDOT’s comprehensive and multimodal plan, every county in Illinois will see targeted improvements that strengthen both local and regional infrastructure. Turner noted that the projects will create safer roadways, generate local jobs, and enhance economic opportunities throughout the area.
“We made the commitment to improve our state’s aging infrastructure, and we are seeing the benefits these investments are making that will have a lasting effect for residents here in Central Illinois,” Turner said. A full list of the projects planned for the 48th District will be released through IDOT and Senator Turner’s office in the coming weeks.
