Two Arrested in Connection with Springfield Shooting

A ShotSpotter alert was activated in the 2300 block of South 9th Street during a shooting incident that occurred in Springfield on February 15th


Police officers responded to the scene and found a victim with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to HSHS St. John's Hospital, where they were treated for a non-life-threatening injury.


Detectives investigating the incident were able to identify and arrest two suspects in connection with the shooting. The suspects were identified as Daijuan K. Champion, a 20-year-old male, and Bryan E. Creason, a 19-year-old male.


Both suspects are facing charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Daijuan K. Champion is also facing an additional charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
