On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at approximately 7:26 a.m., Springfield Police responded to the 1800 block of Post Oak Court for a report of two adults down inside the residence.
Upon arrival, it was determined a male and female located inside the residence were deceased. Springfield Police Department detectives, and crime scene services are currently investigating the incident and processing the residence for evidence.
Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the deaths and identities of Robert Terry, Jr., 67, of Springfield and Renee Terry, 61, of Springfield. An autopsy was done Friday and preliminary findings show Renee Terry died from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of her death is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary autopsy findings for Robert Terry Jr. show he died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The deaths remain under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
