Two Juveniles Arrested Following Fight at White Oaks Mall

On Saturday, December 30, the Springfield Police Department responded to White Oaks Mall, 2501 Wabash Avenue, for the report of a disturbance involving multiple juveniles.

Upon arrival, the crowd had begun to disperse throughout the mall property. Responding officers located one of the security guards down on the floor outside of the food court area who had been battered.

Medical personnel arrived on the scene to provide treatment and transport the security guard to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers on the scene located and arrested two juveniles responsible for battering the security guard.

There were initial reports of gunshots that had been fired inside the mall. Those reports were proven false after the officers spoke with witnesses who had remained on the scene.
