UIS to Host Prospective Student Open House

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) will host an open house for prospective students and their families on Monday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Union, located at 2251 Richard Wright Drive on the UIS campus.

The event will provide visitors with an opportunity to explore the university, learn about its academic programs and campus life, and receive information about student services and the admissions process.

Prospective students and their families will be able to participate in guided tours of the campus and residence halls, attend an academic fair featuring faculty and staff from across the university, and take part in informational sessions covering various aspects of the college experience.

The sessions will address topics including transferring college credits, paying for college, accessing student support services and applying for admission. Visitors will also have opportunities to speak with current UIS students, faculty and staff during panel discussions and question-and-answer sessions.

Attendees can also learn about the UIS Prairie Promise, a financial assistance program that guarantees full coverage of tuition and mandatory fees for qualified first-year and transfer students.

The program combines Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants, AIM HIGH grants and eligible UIS scholarships to cover remaining tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying students.

To be eligible for the Prairie Promise, students must be Illinois residents admitted to an on-campus undergraduate program, demonstrate financial need and enroll full-time.

Registration for the Oct. 12 open house is available at uis.edu/visit. Prospective students who are unable to attend the event may also use the website to schedule an individual campus visit.
